The hardreading staff is sorry to say that this is the third time in a week we’re reporting from the LDD desk. (See here and here.) We fear we’ll soon be yielding to our kissin’ cousins at One-Daily Town.
But until then . . .
The Sports section in today’s Boston Globe features this two-page spread.
With a slight detour through Cleveland, of course. But no stopping at the Boston Herald.
While we’re on the topic of Nike and Irving, here’s the new TV spot he directed and stars in.
Gronk, Sun Tzu, flat earth, plant-based diet – totally memelicious, as SB Nation’s Tim Cato chronicles.
None of which, however, does any good for the thirsty local tabloid.

Exhibit Umpteen in the Boston Herald’s perpetual dis-ad-vantage appears in today’s Boston Globe. (In two parts for legibility.)
So why would’t the fine folks at UFCW Local 1445 run the same ad in the feisty local tabloid? The harddialing staff called to ask just that and . . . we got voicemail. We’ll keep you posted.
Meanwhile, the union snub come in the wake of Nike’s giving the Herald the air (but not the Air) on Tuesday when it ran this ad in the Globe to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Joan Benoit’s groundbreaking run in the first women’s Olympic Marathon.
Man, the thirsty local tabloid can’t get any love, can it?

As the hardreading staff noted, the Boston Herald held its own with Marathon ads in yesterday’s edition, but today the paper got . . . bageled.
Crosstown, meanwhile, the Boston Globe got this:
(To be fair, the Globe did run a special section with all the Marathon finishing times. To be accurate, only the last two ads ran in that section.)
Still, the grumpy local tabloid can console itself with this:
That’s right – the Herald won yet another nod from the Newseum’s coveted Today’s Top Ten Front Pages.
